A friendlier, prettier SAP screen is now available

In August of 2009 the SAP Support Centre asked us to participate in a pilot software project called GuiXT.  GuiXT is like a transparent layer that sits on top of your SAP transaction.  It does not alter any of the on screen transactions but allows you to alter your screen view.  For example, you can hide fields, change the names of fields to use more conventional wording, you can even include graphics.  The idea is to make SAP more user friendly and eliminate unnecessary screen clutter to help reduce the number of data entry errors and the time it takes to process transactions.

The Operations Clerks in OETS were asked for input and suggestions that would help them in their work and to also increase productivity and reduce errors.

The most common issues were as follows:
  • Too many screens/tabs
  • Too difficult to do reversals for confirmations and statistics
  • Lack of ability to transfer easily between the screens
  • The need for scroll bars to view all information

The project would not have been successful without the help of our many testers and our pilot users Sue Allen and Liza Pilecki.

The GuiXT initiative went live on March 1, 2010 with great success!!

Thank you to all who participated in the project!

"GuiXT was designed to have more user-friendly screens, amalgamated tabs and reversals from within the CATS screen, just to name a few of the new functional capabilities.  It was a collaborative effort by the SAP Support Centre and the MMS/PM Group with hopes to reduce the number of errors.  I think the ability to cancel/reverse postings directly from the Activity Sheet Detail Page is the feature that saves me the most time/effort.  Thanks to everybody involved in the GuiXT roll-out!" - Jennifer Martin
