TMOS proudly contributes to keeping our City green
Whether it is double sided printing and recycling within the office, or our grand scheme projects such as Cleaning the Capital, Adopt-a-Park/Road, or the implementation of roundabouts within the city, TMOS promotes environmentally friendly initiatives year round!
This year’s environment week runs from June 5th to June 11th. Environment week gives us a chance to celebrate our achievements and initiatives in decreasing climate change, reducing air pollution, and promotes awareness of sustainable management, development and conservation.
This spring, 930 parks, roadways and green spaces were cleaned up by the 63,000 participants of the 2011 Spring Cleaning the Capital Campaign. Currently there are 112 parks, 59 roadways and 3 gateways actively adopted by community driven residents and groups. All adoptions and Cleaning the Capital Campaigns are coordinated by our TMOS branch!
Another green initiative is the optimization of salt usage on winter roads and sidewalks while ensuring the safety of the transportation system. Optimizations have been gained through the implementation of route planning, on-board electronic controllers, pre-wetting technology and GPS tracking to name a few.
In addition, TMOS is also working to create more roundabouts in order to decrease idling which would therefore reduce air pollution within the city.
The green initiatives and services which TMOS takes on and delivers to the community helps keep our City clean, green and beautiful!
